NHL DFS Tournament Breakdown For DraftKings and FanDuel - 12:6:2021

We have a solid six-gamer in the NHL tonight. Let’s look at some of our best plays for DFS.

Top Stacks – Overall

Colorado 1 – DraftKings: $25,400 – FanDuel: $26,300

Nathan MacKinnon – Gabriel Landeskog – Mikko Rantanen

With Colorado 1 fully healthy, they will be firmly in play as a top stack any time they are on the slate. You do have to pay a hefty premium for them, but that only lowers ownership, making them even more viable in tournaments. They get a solid matchup today against Philadelphia, and I would fire them up with confidence.

Washington 1 – DraftKings: $22,500 – FanDuel: $23,500

Alex Ovechkin – Evgeny Kuznetsov – Tom Wilson

They are even more potent with Tom Wilson healthy and back on Washington’s top line. Today they are at home and face off against an Anaheim squad that is among the league leaders in goals allowed. This is a smash spot for Ovechkin and his linemates to score some goals.

Pittsburgh 1 – DraftKings: $19,800 – FanDuel: $21,600

Jake Guentzel – Sidney Crosby – Evan Rodrigues

As long as Evan Rodrigues stays priced where he is and remains on Pittsburgh’s top line with Bryan Rust out due to injury, this line will be one of the better values in hockey. Today they get to face off against the Seattle squad that has been among the league leaders in goals allowed. This is one of the better spots on the slate that I am looking to attack.

Top Stack – DraftKings Value

Philadelphia 1 – $14,000

Sean Couturier – Claude Giroux – Cam Atkinson

This is just too cheap for a relatively potent first line with full power play one correlation. The Flyers play at home, and while Colorado is a great team, they have not been particularly great on defense. This isn’t a matchup to shy away from, and the Flyers are too cheap. They will be popular in tournaments, but the value is undeniable.

Top Stack – FanDuel Value

New Jersey 1 – $14,500

Jesper Bratt – Nico Hischier – Pavel Zacha

This is exceptionally cheap for a top-line playing at home against one of the worst defensive teams in hockey in the Ottawa Senators. You can also pair them up with the top defenseman on the slate in Dougie Hamilton and afford it since they are so inexpensive. I’d go here early and often when making DFS lineups today.

Top Plays – Defenseman

Ceiling:

Dougie Hamilton – DraftKings: $7,600 – FanDuel: $7,200

Kris Letang – DraftKings: $7,100 – FanDuel: $6,600

John Carlson – DraftKings: $7,000 – FanDuel: $6,600

Jacob Chycrun – DraftKings: $6,900 – FanDuel: $5,200

DraftKings Value:

Tyler Myers: $3,800

Ryan Graves: $3,700

Adam Larsson: $3,300

Travis Sanheim: $2,900

FanDuel Value:

Jacob Chycrun: $5,200 (ceiling and value!)

John Klingberg: $4,500

Ryan Graves: $4,100

Tyler Myers: $3,800

Top Plays – Goalie

Ilya Samsonov – DraftKings: $8,200 – FanDuel: $8,200

Jake Oettinger – DraftKings: $8,200 – FanDuel: $8,100

Thatcher Demko – DraftKings: $7,800 – FanDuel: $7,600

Mackenzie Blackwood – DraftKings: $8,100 – FanDuel: $7,100

Tournament Stack Pivots: DraftKings

COL1, PIT1, WAS1, and OTT1 are all top stacks considering their likelihood of taking down the slate. While all will get decent ownership, none should be over-owned for their success potential due to prohibitive pricing. If looking for something more off the board, I would look to LA1 and 2.

Tournament Stack Pivots: FanDuel

It is a similar situation on FanDuel where the four top stacks of the day, while owned, should not be over-owned. LA1 and 2, ANH1, and VAN2 are solid low ownership pivots.
