NHL DFS: Top Stacks, Plays, And Leverage Pivots - 12/17/2021

The NHL is crazy with the health protocols hitting the league hard right now. We’re getting tons of guys ruled out throughout the day, and it is more important than ever to keep close track of the news. Let’s look at the slate as it stands for the moment.

Top Stacks – Overall

Chicago 1 – DraftKings: $17,900 – FanDuel: $18,300

Patrick Kane – Alex DeBrincat – Dylan Strome

The fully healthy Chicago 1 line of Kane, DeBrincat, and Strome at home against Nashville is about as good as we will get tonight. The Predators are not the best matchup, but the Blackhawks get home ice, and Nashville is on a back-to-back. DeBrincat and Kane both skate on the power play 1, and the inclusion of Strome gives you excellent savings to make the stack affordable.

Pittsburgh 1 – DraftKings: $17,200 – FanDuel: $17,300

Sidney Crosby – Evan Rodrigues – Kasperi Kapanen

Pittsburgh 1 gets a great matchup at home against Buffalo. The line is depleted and not the same as when Pittsburgh is fully healthy. Still, with Rodrigues and Kapanen skating with Crosby, you get considerable savings. Rodrigues and Crosby are both on the first power play. You can add Kris Letang at defenseman for additional PP1 correlation.

Top Stacks – Value

Pittsburgh 2 – DraftKings: $12,100 – FanDuel: $14,700

Jeff Carter – Jason Zucker – Danton Heinen

It all comes down to the matchup again, and Pittsburgh 2 gets Buffalo and skates on home ice. This price is fantastic, and Zucker and Carter skate on the power play one. You can also do a PP1 stack and add Crosby, Rodrigues, and/or Letang to the mix for a hybrid PIT1 and PIT2 stack.

Tournament Stack Pivots: DraftKings

Anaheim 1 and 2, Dallas 1, and New York Rangers 1 are solid pivots off some of the chalkier stacks. Although they will be owned, the leverage on CHI1, PIT1, and VGK1 is not bad based on current ownership projections.

Tournament Stack Pivots: FanDuel

VGK1 is likely to come in at very low ownership considering their prohibitive price point on a slate with some great stacks at friendly prices. They also get a tough road matchup with the Rangers, which should deter ownership. Yet, they are among the top stacks on this or any slate and have proven matchup-proof when healthy. BUF1, WPG2, and VGK2 are other leverage stacks to consider.
