NHL Best Bets 12-07-21

The NHL has a big slate of games scheduled for December 7th. 10 games are scheduled with a majority of the games being played in the Eastern Time zone. With the surplus of games, sports fans and bettors alike will be searching for favorable matchups and mismatches that can lead to successful and profitable bets.

St. Louis Blues (+110) Vs. Florida Panthers

Blues stat line12 wins in 24 games3.25 goals per game2.83 goals against per game
Panthers stat line17 wins in 24 games3.83 goals per game 2.71 goals against per game

This game is a rematch of the recent 4-3 shootout victory for the Panthers and both teams have proven early on to be two of the best in the NHL. The Panthers hope to beat the Blues once again but the Blues can take advantage of favorable matchups on both ends of the ice. The Blues defense will limit the Panthers’ potent offense with Torey Krug, Marco Scandella, and the rest of the defensive unit cutting off angles to the net and limiting the Panthers from establishing an offensive zone presence. Additionally, backup goaltender Ville Husso has stepped up in Jordan Binnington’s absence and looks to blank the Panthers’ quick shots on the net.

On the other end of the ice, the Blues will run up the score with their offensive depth overwhelming the Panthers’ defense. Jordan Kyrou, Brandon Saad, Robert Thomas, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and finding quick shots on the odd-man rush while also establishing a strong offensive zone presence. The strong offensive zone presence will not only create open shots near the net but will allow defenseman Torey Krug to further open up the offense from the point with great shots from the blue line.

The Blues will win the game and provide great odds in the process as home Underdogs.

Also Consider – Over 5.5: Both these teams are led by their offenses and if the recent game was any indication, both the Blues and the Panthers will pile on the goals once again.

Under 5.5 – Carolina Hurricanes Vs. Winnipeg Jets

Hurricanes stat line16 wins in 23 games3.26 goals per game2.26 goals against per game
Jets stat line12 wins in 24 games3.04 goals per game2.75 goals against per game

The Hurricanes and the Jets look like two of the best teams in the NHL and both teams have offenses that can easily make the upcoming game a high-scoring one. However, both teams are led by their defenses and look to exploit weaknesses in the opposing forward units throughout the game. The Jets will look to limit the Hurricanes potent offense by controlling the blue line with Brenden Dillon, Josh Morrissey, and the rest of the defensive unit stepping up and making it difficult for the Hurricanes forwards to establish an offensive zone presence. Moreover, Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is having a great season in the net and will eliminate the Hurricanes’ quick shots on the goal while also saving the shots off of cross-ice passes.

The Hurricanes meanwhile should also limit the Jets’ top-heavy forward unit with Jaccob Slavin, Ian Cole, Anthony DeAngelo, and the rest of the Hurricanes defensemen creating turnovers in the neutral zone and defensive zone while limiting passing lanes for the Jets forwards, especially when Kyle Connor is on the ice. In addition, the Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen is having a strong season in the net and looks to blank the initial shots on the goal and eliminate second chance opportunities for the Jets.

The Under will cover in a low-scoring game controlled by both defenses.

Under 5.5 – New York Rangers Vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Rangers stat line16 wins in 23 games2.91 goals per game2.48 goals against per game
Blackhawks stat line9 wins in 24 games2.13 goals per game3.13 goals against per game

Both these teams are led by their defenses and even better goaltenders. In the upcoming game, the Rangers should eliminate the Blackhawks struggling offense with Adam Fox, K’Andre Miller, Ryan Lindgren in the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the neutral zone and limiting Patrick Kane and the Blackhawks forward on the odd-man rush. The Rangers will also force difficult shots on the net, allowing goaltender Igor Shesterkin to have a great game in the net and force the Blackhawks to find shots through traffic. The Blackhawks should also limit the Rangers’ top-heavy offense with Seth Jones and Erik Gustafsson creating turnovers in the defensive zone and stepping up as the zone line to limit the Rangers on the odd-man rush while Marc-Andre Fleury steps up in the net and eliminates the Rangers shots throughout the game.

The Under will cover in a low-scoring game with both defenses stepping up.

Detroit Red Wings (-105) Vs. Nashville Predators

Red Wings stat line13 wins in 25 games2.80 goals per game3.12 goals against per game
Predators stat line13 wins in 24 games2.79 goals per game2.83 goals against per game

This is going to be a great game between two teams that are hopeful of taking big leaps in the NHL this season. The Predators are looking to make up ground in the Central Division but the Red Wings can exploit mismatches on both ends of the ice. The Red Wings offense will pile on the goals with Lucas Raymond, Dylan Larkin, and the rest of the forward unit crashing the net on the odd-man rush to find quick scoring chances on the Predators’ defense. In addition, the Red Wings defensemen in Nick Leddy and Moritz Seider will create open shots near the net with excellent passes from the point to further open up the offense.

The Red Wings defense meanwhile will look to eliminate the Predators struggling offense with Moritz Seider and Filip Hronek creating turnovers in the defensive zone while cutting off shooting lanes for the Predators’ forwards, forcing them to find shots off of quick passes. The Red Wings also have seen their starting goaltender, Alex Nedeljkovic, drastically improve since the start of the season and in the upcoming game, Nedeljkovic should eliminate the Predators’ direct shots on the net, forcing them to score from the point.

The Red Wings will win the game with a strong performance at home.

San Jose Sharks (+125) Vs. Calgary Flames

Sharks stat line13 wins in 25 games2.64 goals per game2.68 goals against per game
Flames stat line15 wins in 25 games3.16 goals per game2.04 goals against per game

The Flames are one of the best teams in the NHL and are looking to add on another win against their divisional rival in the Sharks. The problem is that the Sharks are one of the most improved teams in the NHL and look to find favorable matchups on both ends of the ice. The Sharks will look to find the back of the net with Tomas Hertl, Logan Couture, and Timo Meier creating on the wing and finding quick shots on tough angles while establishing a great offensive zone presence throughout the game. The Sharks also will find plenty of open ice at the blue line and defensemen Erik Karlsson and Brent Burns will help pick apart the Flames’ strong defense as a result.

The Sharks defense meanwhile should eliminate the Flames offense with Mario Ferraro and Brent Burns controlling the blue line to limit the Flames from finding scoring opportunities on the odd-man rush while Erik Karlsson and the rest of the defensive unit create turnovers in the defensive zone into instant scoring chances the other way. Additionally, Sharks goaltender James Reimer will look to cover up the shots on the rush from the Flames to eliminate extra scoring opportunities for the Flames forwards.

The Sharks will win the game and pull off the upset at home.

Also Consider – Over 5.5: Both teams have played great defensively this season and this game looks to be a low-scoring one as a result.
