Kirk Cousins Over 262.5 Passing Yards
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins comes into this game with a favorable matchup vs the Detroit Lions. In his 10 year career, Cousins has faced the Lions 8 times, putting together an 8-1 record, and averaging 274.8 yards per game. Last year, Cousins opened the season with a 405-yard performance vs Detroit but only threw for 220 yards in the team’s second meeting. This swing between two extremes has also been the story of Kirk Cousins’ 2021-2022 season. For example, in week 11, the Vikings QB threw for 341 yards and 3 touchdowns against a Packers defense that was making a habit of slowing down top-tier quarterbacks. However, he followed that up with just 238 yards vs the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite his inconsistent play, Kirk Cousins has still thrown for 3013 yards, placing him 7th among NFL quarterbacks. Having played in11 games, he is averaging just under 274 yards per contest. So far, he has gone over this week’s line of 262.5, in 55% of his games. On offense, the Minnesota Vikings are the 10th ranked team in pass plays per game, dropping back to pass 58% of the time.
This week, I expect to see the team lean even more on the arm of their quarterback as Dalvin Cook is to miss some time with a dislocated shoulder. Although Alexander Mattison is a capable backup, Minnesota will prefer to move the ball through the air as Minnesota has a clear advantage over Detroit’s cornerbacks.
