NFL Week 11 DraftKings Thursday Night Showdown: Patriots at Falcons

The Thursday night Showdown slate on DraftKings gives us one of the most difficult slates to break down this season. Finding out whether or not Cordarelle Patterson is playing will be an enormous piece of news to try and figure out a lineup plan. Let’s look at some players to target in DraftKings’ Thursday Night Millionaire Showdown slate — with a prize pool of $2.25 million, an entry fee of $20, and a $1 million first-place prize — and who to use in the critical Captain slot:

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS

Damien Harris, RB Patriots ($13,200):

As noted above, this is an extremely difficult showdown slate to decipher. On the Patriots’ side, you return Harris to the running back fold, which probably kills Rhamondre Stevenson’s chances for a repeat performance of last Sunday. It just muddles the entire Patriots outlook, which is muddled even in optimal circumstances. But if Harris is a full go, he’s the most likely player on the board to post the kind of numbers that make Captaining him the best play. But, really, there are like 10 guys tonight who could emerge as the top Captain play. Good luck landing on the right one.

CAPTAINS COURAGEOUS

Wayne Gallman, RB Falcons ($12,600):

If Patterson is ruled out, I suspect Gallman is going to emerge as the best option on the Falcons. I loved Matt Ryan last week, but without Patterson this offense is rudderless and the Patriots’ defense is playing at a high level, especially in the secondary. But Gallman showed some juice in mop-up duty last week and is a sleeper pick to emerge as Captain-worthy.

Hunter Henry, TE Patriots ($10,500):

He’s the Cris Carter of tight ends. All he does is catch touchdowns. The red zone chemistry between Mac Jones and Henry is undeniable at this point and Henry is the top touchdown option in this passing attack. There isn’t much you would say is reliable on this slate, but Henry is close to it.

FLEX MIX

Kendrick Bourne, WR Patriots ($7,600):

Mac Jones threw three TD passes last week and Bourne’s was the prettiest. The former 49er has found a home in New England and is now a threat to run the ball (3-43 last week) as well as his receiving heroics (4-98-1). He’s another legit Captain option, as well.

Patriots Defense ($5,600):

If Patterson is out, it’s going to be a field day for this defense, which has posted double-digit DK points in four consecutive games. In those four games combined: 8 interceptions and 11 sacks. Good luck, Matty Ice.
