NBA DFS First Look For DraftKings And FanDuel - 12/15/2021

Today we have an 11-game main course in the NBA after yesterday’s 3-game appetizer. I will waste no time getting into it since we have a lot to cover.

HOU (104.25) @ CLE (113.25)

The Rockets are chock-full of DraftKings value, with Garrison Mathews, Armani Brooks, Jae’Sean Tate, Josh Christopher, and D.J. Augustin looking like solid options. Christian Wood is currently questionable and always in play for his ceiling if he does take the court. Alperen Sengun and Daniel Theis would benefit if Wood sits, and you’d get a general usage bump for some players on the rest of the team in general. Brooks, Tate, and Mathews are our FanDuel values.

UPDATE

Christian Wood has been ruled OUT.

The Cavaliers have a high total, and several players stand to benefit and come at friendly DraftKings prices. Ricky Rubio, Evan Mobley, Lauri Markkanen, Kevin Love, and Isaac Okoro qualify. Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen come with tournament ceiling but don’t project well on a points-per-dollar basis. Evan Mobley is questionable. Kevin Love would likely start if he sits and become an even better play. There may also be extra minutes for Jarrett Allen, Cedi Osman, and Lamar Stevens. On FanDuel, Ricky Rubio and Lauri Markkanen are the best plays, but none really stand out.

ATL (115.75) @ ORL (107.75)

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Clint Capela are our best values for the Hawks on DraftKings. You could always consider Trae Young or John Collins, but neither are good points-per-dollar plays. Kevin Huerter and Clint Capela make the most sense on FanDuel. This game has some blowout potential, so you’d hope that Orlando can keep it close if running staple Atlanta starters.

Terrence Ross, Chuma Okeke, Franz Wagner, and Robin Lopez offer some value on DraftKings for the Magic. The critical guys like Cole Anthony, Mo Bamba, and Wendell Carter Jr. can always have big games. Still, none are priced well for tonight’s projections. Franz Wagner is the only actual savings play on FanDuel. You could also consider Wendell Carter.

MIA (99.75) @ PHI (105.75)

This slate is going to be dominated by Miami value. Now Tyler Herro is out in addition to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Literally, every single player other than Marcus Garrett should be a great value tonight. Max Strus, Omer Yurtseven, DeWayne Dedmon, Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, P.J. Tucker, KZ Okpala, and Gabe Vincent are the guys. The best FanDuel values are Lowry, Strus, Yurtseven, and Dedmon, but everyone benefits and is a candidate to pick up slack for this defeated Heat team.

As of the moment, no one on Philadelphia is an outstanding play, although you can always run Joel Embiid or, to a lesser extent Tobias Harris. Embiid is questionable, and if he sits, we’re going to get a good play in Andre Drummond starting at $4,700 on DraftKings. Other Sixers would also get usage bumps. Seth Curry is also questionable. Furkan Korkmaz (questionable) could get to start if he sits. There will be more guard minutes to go around. Georges Niang has also just been ruled out; we may see a bit more value open up on the Sixers.

LAL (107.5) @ DAL (105.5)

DeAndre Jordan and Carmelo Anthony could offer a bit of DraftKings value for the Lakers. It is also just picking your poison with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, or Russell Westbrook. None are priced particularly well today on DraftKings, but any of them can do damage. Davis is actually a decent value on FanDuel and would be the preferred Lakers play.

Jalen Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Kristaps Porzingis, and Tim Hardaway Jr. will continue to be solid plays on DraftKings until Luka Doncic can return. Brunson and Porzingis are the only actual plays on FanDuel.

IND (109.5) @ MIL (107.5)

Malcolm Brogdon, Oshae Brissett, Myles Turner are the three Pacers guys you’d look at on DraftKings. Sabonis and Levert fall out of value territory. Brogdon and Levert are the best plays on FanDuel.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo out, we have a lot of value on Milwaukee. Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton, and Bobby Portis are great plays on DraftKings. Middleton, Holiday, and Allen are the FanDuel plays. Middleton is also questionable, and if he was to sit, Pat Connaughton, Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, and perhaps Rodney Hood would stand to benefit. Milwaukee should be very popular today.

NOP (108) @ OKC (103.5)

No one is standing out on the Pelicans for DraftKings value. Still, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jonas Valanciunas are guys you could consider. Valanciunas is an excellent play on FanDuel.

Kenrich Williams and Aleksej Pokusevski offer a bit of DraftKings value for the Thunder. Darius Bazley and Josh Giddey could be considered as well. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander isn’t a great play from a pricing standpoint but can always get it done when he’s on. On FanDuel, Josh Giddey stands out as the best OKC play.

CHA (111.75) @ SAS (115.25)

In terms of total, this one looks like one of the best game environments of the night for DFS production. Yet, not a single player for the Hornets is an excellent value on DraftKings. You can always consider guys like Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward, and Miles Bridges, but they aren’t outstanding plays today. Mason Plumlee could sit, and if he does, that would benefit PJ Washington and make him a better option. It is the same situation on FanDuel, except Cody Martin is an excellent value.

UPDATE

Lonnie Walker IV has been ruled OUT.

Lonnie Walker IV and Doug McDermott are the best plays on DraftKings for San Antonio. All the key starters, notably Dejounte Murray, could be considered in tournaments, but none stand out at their prices. While this seems like an excellent game for DFS, the production is just too spread out for these two teams, and the prices are not appealing on DraftKings. Jakob Poeltl, Keldon Johnson, and Dejounte Murray look decent on FanDuel.

MIN (109.5) @ DEN (114)

Patrick Beverley and Jarred Vanderbilt are the plays for the Timberwolves on DraftKings. You can always play Karl-Anthony Towns or Anthony Edwards, but they are not priced well tonight. D’Angelo Russell could sit. This would make KAT and Edwards better plays and make Malik Beasley an option. On FanDuel, Jarred Vanderbilt is the only real play based on Minnesota pricing.

For the Nuggets, Zeke Nnaji, Facundo Campazzo, and Bones Hyland could offer a bit of fringe value. Other than that, just play Nikola Jokic, take your 60-70 DraftKings points, and move on. He is by far the most reliable and consistent spend-up in the NBA right now and is a force of nature to be reckoned with. Even if he gets ejected, he’s likely to put up 70 fantasy points. He’s actually a pretty good points-per-dollar value even at $12,200, which is all but unheard of. Jokic is an even better play on FanDuel, and Will Barton is also an option.

WAS (113.5) @ SAC (111.5)

We have a high total game with a tight spread and some excellent DraftKings value for Washington. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Daniel Gafford, and Montrezl Harrell all fit the bill. Kyle Kuzma as well, if he plays, but he is questionable. Deni Avdija and Davis Bertans benefit if he does not suit up. Harrell is the best play on FanDuel by a considerable margin. Spencer Dinwiddie, Gafford, and Caldwell-Pope could be considered as well.

Davion Mitchell, Alex Len, Chimezie Metu, Harrison Barnes, and Tyrese Haliburton are solid Sacramento options on DraftKings. This is a pretty good game to play guys from both sides if it lives up to its total. Metu, Barnes, and De’Aaron Fox are the FanDuel plays to look at.

LAC (104.25) @ UTA (113.75)

Paul George and Nicolas Batum are questionable for the Clippers. Batum’s absence would not have a significant impact, but George’s, of course, would. Reggie Jackson, Luke Kennard, Terrence Mann, and Marcus Morris Sr. would benefit. At the moment, Morris Sr. is the only genuinely usable play on DraftKings in this tough matchup with Utah. No one at all stands out on FanDuel.

Royce O’Neale and Jordan Clarkson are good points-per-dollar plays on DraftKings. After that, no one stands out from a value standpoint. The Utah offense is very balanced, and the key guys, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, are priced up. O’Neale, Mitchell, Clarkson, and Bojan Bogdanovic look pretty good at their respective FanDuel prices.

MEM (110) @ POR (107)

Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Dillon Brooks are the DraftKings options for Memphis. Tyus Jones also enters the conversation on FanDuel.

Robert Covington, Larry Nance Jr., Norman Powell, Anfernee Simons, and Nassir Little are priced pretty well on DraftKings and offer some value. Damian Lillard also comes at a reasonable $9,900 for his immense upside, with CJ McCollum still off the court. Jusuf Nurkic, Damian Lillard, Norman Powell, and Nassir Little are the best FanDuel options. Lillard really stands out there at just $8,700. I’d prioritize him on FanDuel.
