NBA DFS First Look For DraftKings And FanDuel - 1/11/2022

Tonight we have a mid-sized six-game slate in the NBA to review. Here is a game-by-game breakdown with some of our best DFS options on the night.

OKC (103.75) @ WAS (113.25)

This Oklahoma City team is priced interestingly on DraftKings. Many players are priced well enough to provide decent value, but nothing is off the charts. Darius Bazley, James Robinson-Earl, Luguentz Dort, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, and Mike Muscala are solid options. Giddey and Gilgeous-Alexander have the highest ceilings for GPPs. Giddey is the only play looking great on FanDuel, but you could also consider Gilgeous-Alexander. Considering the low team total and no massive value, I wouldn’t go crazy with this team.

Washington is all but entirely healthy and has a lot of mouths to feed. Kyle Kuzma, Bradley Beal, and Spencer Dinwiddie have the highest ceilings. Only Dinwiddie offers decent points-per-dollar value on DraftKings. On FanDuel, Daniel Gafford is the best play at $5,600. All in all, this isn’t the best team for DFS today, but you can always take a shot in GPPs.

PHX (113.75) @ TOR (109.75)

DraftKings pricing is giving us some pretty excellent value on the Suns. Cameron Payne, Deandre Ayton, Jae Crowder, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul are all in play. I might be inclined not to play more than one or two of the top guys in Ayton/Paul/Booker in the same lineup since they are unlikely to all reach a ceiling together. Ayton, Crowder, and Booker are the best FanDuel plays.

Gary Trent Jr. and Scottie Barnes are questionable for the Raptors. If both suit up, the best option on DraftKings is Gary Trent. Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, and OG Anunoby are all bordering on decent points-per-dollar projections. Barnes and Trent are the FanDuel plays for Toronto. Suppose either of the two questionable guys sits. In that case, there will be more minutes and usage to go around, and the Raptors will become more of a priority.

DET (103.5) @ CHI (117.5)

Detroit has a deficient team total in a tough matchup, and the only play looking good on DraftKings is Trey Lyles at $4,900. He should be a popular value option on this slate as it stands right now. The three top guys in terms of their ceilings are Cade Cunningham, Hamidou Diallo, and Saddiq Bey, but none are priced well for their projections. Diallo and Bey are still overpriced with Cunningham back. On FanDuel, Cunningham and Bey are priced a lot better and are decent plays. Diallo is also borderline playable on FD.

Derrick Jones Jr., Lonzo Ball, Nikola Vucevic, and DeMar DeRozan are all acceptable options for the Bulls on DraftKings. Jones Jr. is the only glaring value. Jones, DeRozan, and Zach LaVine are the best FanDuel options for the Bulls. They have a high team total and should score plenty of points but are challenging for DFS considering their balanced offense. It is hard on any given night to trust which of DeRozan, LaVine, Vucevic, and Ball will have big games.

GSW (111) @ MEM (109)

A bit of value has opened up for Golden State with Draymond Green out. Juan Toscano-Anderson, Andre Iguodala, and Kevon Looney can all be considered on DraftKings. Andrew Wiggins and Steph Curry have the most ceiling, but neither are priced well. Toscano-Anderson is the only standout FanDuel option. Curry is clearly a guy who can go off at any time, but he is rarely the best spend-up on a decent-sized slate based on his lack of consistency in hitting a target DFS score.

Desmond Bane and Kyle Anderson are the Memphis plays we are looking at on DraftKings. Steven Adams is currently questionable, and if he cannot suit up, Jaren Jackson Jr. stands to benefit. No one stands out for Memphis on FanDuel. Guys like Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson, and Desmond Bane have upside, but none are priced well enough to be good options except for Bane on DraftKings.

MIN (115.25) @ NOP (111.25)

Patrick Beverley is questionable for the Timberwolves. It stands to benefit D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, and Malik Beasley if he sits. As of the moment, Patrick Beverley is the only points-per-dollar value on DraftKings. Russell, Edwards, and Karl-Anthony Towns are the ceiling guys, but none are priced well, and all compete for usage. There are no excellent plays on FanDuel, but you can always take a shot on any of the big three (Russell/Edwards/Towns) in GPPs.

New Orleans is looking decent on DraftKings with Josh Hart, Devonte’ Graham, Brandon Ingram, and Herbert Jones grading out decently for their prices. Graham, Ingram, and Hart are the FanDuel plays. Jonas Valanciunas always has a ceiling in tournaments but is not priced particularly well on either DFS site.

DEN (107.5) @ LAC (105)

For Denver, we are primarily looking at Nikola Jokic, who tends to be the best ceiling play on just about any slate he is on. We also have a bit of value on DraftKings with JaMychal Green and Monte Morris. On FanDuel, it is really just Jokic or bust for Denver.

The Clippers are a good source of value with Paul George and some other key pieces out. Nicolas Batum, Ivica Zubac, Amir Coffey, Terance Mann, Serge Ibaka, and Marcus Morris Sr. look decent on DraftKings. Zubac, Mann, Batum, and Eric Bledsoe are the best FanDuel Clippers plays.
