The start of the second week of the NFL season has already begun now that the game between the New York Giants and Washington Football Team has happened. There are only a few more days to set DraftKings DFS lineups for this week. There are some great matchups to exploit this week when setting lineups. Here are quarterbacks to target in DraftKings DFS lineups this week.
Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

DraftKings value: $6,900
Last week Tom Brady and the Buccaneers were engaged in an entertaining shootout with the Dallas Cowboys. Tampa Bay came out on top winning 31-29 on a game-winning field goal. Brady was a large reason why the Buccaneers won and were able to complete a game-winning drive with less than two minutes left. He completed 32 of 50 passes for 379 yards and four touchdowns. Brady also had two interceptions during that game as well.
After playing Dallas’ weak secondary in Week 1, the Buccaneers get another weak defense in Atlanta this week. Last week Jalen Hurts threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns on the Falcons. Last year Brady threw for over 390 yards in each matchup he had against the Falcons. He also had a combined six passing touchdowns in both games against them as well. The Falcons defense isn’t expected to be much better than last year and confirmed that last week.
Brady has an opportunity to finish the week as a top-3 scoring quarterback. Brady has a high floor this week and is only the sixth most expensive quarterback this week. It is worth paying the price for Brady knowing that he will put up high production from the quarterback slot in lineups this week.
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

DraftKings value: $6,700
In an extremely tough matchup last week Justin Herbert was impressive. Against the Washington Football Team, Herbert completed 31 of 47 passes for 337 yards and a touchdown. That is a great performance for a second-year quarterback playing with a new head coach, new offensive coordinator, and behind a new offensive line against one of the most talented defenses in the league.
The Los Angeles Chargers are playing against the Dallas Cowboys this week. Justin Herbert could put up numbers similar to what Tom Brady did last week against them. The Cowboys’ defense got weaker this past week when they lost pass rusher, Demarcus Lawerence, to a broken foot. Dallas could have another shootout on their hands which means a great fantasy game for Herbert. It wouldn’t be surprising if Herbert finished the week as the highest-scoring fantasy quarterback. That is an upside play worth inserting into DFS lineups considering he has the eighth highest value among quarterbacks this week.
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

DraftKings value: $6,600
Last week Aaron Rodgers shocked everyone by having the worst performance of his career against the New Orleans Saints. Rodgers completed 15 of his 28 passes for 133 yards and two interceptions. Green Bay scored only three points last week. Their score from last week was the worst by a reigning MVP all-time in their first start after winning the award.
All of that being said the Packers game in Week 2 feels like a prime opportunity where Green Bay will quiet all of the doubters and blow out the Detriot Lions. Last week Detriot gave up 41 points to the San Fransisco 49ers. Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 314 yards and a touchdown against the Lions last week. It seems whenever Aaron Rodgers is enraged or doubted by the media he pops off for an outstanding game the following week. A rebuilding Lions defense that just lost their starting cornerback Jeff Okudah is vulnerable enough to get crushed by an enraged Rodgers who has a chip on his shoulder after this past week.
Green Bay could put up over 500 offensive yards and six touchdowns on Monday night. If Green Bay has an outstanding day to bounce back from last week’s performance Rodgers could be the catalyst. He could be the highest-scoring fantasy quarterback this week. If Rodgers goes off like many think he could he could end up being the steal of the week in DFS because he is only the tenth highest valued quarterback on DraftKings.
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

DraftKings value: $6,400
Last week was the coming-out party for the new-look Los Angeles Rams under new starting quarterback Matthew Stafford. The new Rams quarterback did not disappoint completing 20 of 26 passes for 321 yards and three touchdowns. The offense felt very smooth and felt like it could explode for a big play at any minute.
At first glance, a matchup against the Indianapolis Colts doesn’t seem like an ideal matchup for Stafford and the Rams. However last week the Colts’ defense was toasted by Russell Wilson. The Seahawks quarterback threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns against this defense. Two key injuries along this Colts defense that could be major losses for this defense are Xavier Rhodes and Darius Leonard. Rhodes missed last week due to a calf issue and has yet to practice this week since sustaining the injury. Leonard has missed practice with a non-Covid-19 illness and an ankle issue. If both were to miss this game Sunday, the Colts’ defense would be without their number one cornerback and best defensive player. Stafford is valued as the 12th rated quarterback but could finish in the top-8 in a discretely favorable matchup against the Colts.
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

DraftKings value: $5,800
The Cincinnati Bengals pulled out an exciting overtime win against the Minnesota Vikings last week. Last week was the first game Joe Burrow has played since tearing his ACL last season (outside of the preseason). Burrow looked great during that game completing 20 of his 27 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns. The highlight of the game to Bengals fans may have been the 50-yard touchdown between former LSU teammates Burrow and 2021 first-round pick Ja’Marr Chase
Over the past few seasons, the Chicago Bears have been known as one of the better defensive units in the league. However this year their defense is much weaker than in past years. The Bears’ secondary is not as loaded as it was a few years ago. Outside of Jaylon Johnson, the Bears have a pretty unproven quarterback group. Last week the Los Angeles Rams were able to move the ball up and down the field as they pleased. This game could end up being a high-scoring affair.
After their win last week the Bengals can roll that momentum into this week and play well. The Bengals trio of wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd are all capable of having great games against this Bears secondary. That would result in a great game for Joe Burrow. He is the 19th highest valued quarterback on DraftKings and is capable of having a top-10 finish. He is a great player to insert into DFS lineups where more of the salary cap is spent on more expensive skill position players.
